The core feature set will remain free while we will be implementing paid plans for heavy users (recruiters and hiring managers).

What is the long term goal of CodeCitizen?

The long term vision of Code Citizen is to help developers focus on building things of value within the open source community rather than concentrating on l337 code.

How does this product help people that hire?

Rather than basing your assumptions on a piece of marketing material (a CV) or brands that have previously put faith in them, why not base it on real pieces of work they have completed?

What about developers that don’t contribute to open source in their spare time?

It is true that not all developers contribute to open source in their spare time and for those people you will have to fall back to your old method however it might be common than you think for small open source contributions to be made during regular work by regular developers.

Can I hide my profile?

Yes you can make your profile private via Github. This also hides your activity in various social features on GitHub.com. A private profile hides information from all users, and there is currently no option to allow specified users to see your activity. You can learn more about how to do it here

Where do you get your data from?

Our data is currently sourced from Github although we are eager to add other open source code locations such as GitLab.
